8 slices crusty bread, from a loaf of sourdough, white, wheat, or Italian bread
1/4 cup Stonewall Kitchen Savory Jam
1/2 pound Black Forest Ham
8 ounces sharp cheddar cheese, sliced
Recipe Preparation
Melt 1 tablespoon of butter in a heavy, large skillet over medium heat. Add apple slices and saute until golden on both sides, but still slightly firm. Remove from pan and set aside.
Spread butter on one side of the bread slices. Turn slices over and spread a thin layer of jam on each slice. layer cheese, ham, and apples on 4 slices and top with remaining slices of bread.
Cook sandwiches over medium heat until the cheese melts and the sandwich is golden brown on both sides. Add more butter to the pan if needed.
