Wine Weekend In

Wine can be a girl’s best friend. Especially shared with a loved one for a date night in cooking together, enjoying heartfelt conversation, and each other’s presence. We have four perfect pairings to explore and win over your admirer this weekend along with a ready-to-go Plums shopping list.

Pali Wine Co Pinot Noir with Fig & Walnut Glazed Roasted Duck

Pali Wine Co Pinot Noir is sourced from Riverbench Vineyard in the Santa Maria Valley AVA and Sta. Rita Hills AVA. Carefully blended to express the unique, “Huntington’s” flavors that consist of soft red fruits, a variety of baking spices, cloves and cinnamon, along with such early components as black tea and mushrooms.

Stonewall Kitchen’s Fig & Walnut Butter is made from delicious sweet figs and tasty walnuts. It will become a pantry essential due to its variety of uses: to flavor tea, pair with cheese, add to smoothies, or as a glaze for Roasted Duck. Le Creuset’s Roasted Duck recipe includes notes of garlic, yellow onion, thyme, bay leaves, & maple syrup, which is why the fig & walnut butter would be a perfect pair to glaze on top. Once you have this recipe made, all you need is a glass of the Pinot Noir for a perfect date night in.

Beringer Bourbon Barrel Aged Chardonnay with Coconut Curry Vegetable Shrimp

Beringer’s Chardonnay showcases a bouquet of ripe apricot, vanilla bean, and buttered toast. This lingering finish includes apple pie and vanilla ice cream with caramel creating a creamy mouth-coating.

While savoring the chardonnay, cook with your partner our 6 ingredient Vegetable Shrimp Curry dish that includes Stonewall’s Coconut Curry Simmering sauce. The blend of spices originates from Southeast Asia including a tapestry of flavors: cayenne, ginger, jalapenos, mangos, and coconut cream. If you didn’t finish the bottle of chardonnay before the curry was ready, it pairs nicely to enjoy a glass on the side with this dish.

Astoria Extra Dry Sparkling Rose with Barrel-Aged Balsamic Strawberries

Astoria Sparkling Rosé is delicately pink in color with fine and continuous bubbles. Aromas of fresh raspberry and strawberry with white floral notes. Full-bodied and extra dry, this rosé finishes well-balanced.

Our classic, Olivelle Barrel-Aged Balsamic, drizzled over fresh strawberries with a dollop of whipped cream and Olivelle’s Vanilla Bean Sea Salt on top. This sweet pairing would make a delicious dessert or fix a weekend sweet-tooth.

Whispering Angel Rose with Rose Petal Preserves on top of Orange-Rosemary Olive Oil Cake

Whispering Angel’s Rose has a rewarding taste profile that is full and lush while being bone dry with a smooth finish. It includes notes of lemons, cantaloupe, orange peel, and peaches. Said to be crispy and creamy, this can be enjoyed from midday to midnight.

Nielsen-Massey’s Orange-Rosemary Olive Oil Cake is moist and not-too-sweet, which makes it a perfect nightcap for someone with savory sweet-tooth. The recipe includes the Madagascar Bourbon Vanilla Extract & Orange Blossom Water from Nielson-Massey. The vanilla uses hand-selected vanilla beans from the Bourbon Island of Madagascar, preserving the vanilla’s sweet, creamy flavor. The Orange Blossom Water can bring a sweet perfume of orange to dishes of custards, puddings, cakes, cookies, and candies! The weekend won’t be complete without baking a cake with your sweetheart and enjoying a glass of rose.
